Democrats seek info on Trump's reported $1 billion request for campaign cash from oil firms

House Democrats are probing for information on former President Donald Trump's recent $1 billion request for campaign money from big oil companies. 

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., wrote letters to eight oil companies and a lobbying group that reportedly sent representatives to a dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Trump reportedly requested that the oil industry raise $1 billion to help support his 2024 presidential run, according to The Hill,

Raskin specifically requested the names of the people who attended the dinner at Mar-a-Lago, what was discussed, and any materials shared with those in attendance. 

Democratic lawmakers sent letters to the CEO's of Cheniere Energy, Chesapeake Energy, Chevron, Continental Resources, EQT Corporation, ExxonMobil, Occidental Petroleum and Venture Global, The Washington Post reported.

The move follows a report from Politico last week, suggesting that oil industry executives are planning to work closely with Trump if he is elected in 2024 and have drafted executive orders for him to sign.
