Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday endorsed former Republican Sen. David Perdue for governor of Georgia by saying he is the only candidate who can beat Democrat Stacey Abrams in the fall.

Trump also blasted Perdue’s primary opponent, incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp, as a "horrendous RINO who has betrayed the people of Georgia."

Trump's comments supporting Perdue came during a fundraiser in Mar-a-Lago, Fla. Perdue lost his bid for Senate in 2020 to Democrat Jon Ossoff.

"David is a fearless and outstanding conservative leader, and he is the ONLY candidate who can beat Stacey 'The Hoax' Abrams this November," the former president said, according to a press release of his remarks at the event.

"As a United States Senator, David stood up to the Radical Left—and he was always a champion for strong, secure borders," Trump said. "As governor, David will restore integrity to our elections, he will eliminate the Georgia Income Tax, and he will put PARENTS back in charge of Georgia schools."

Trump said that Perdue has his "Complete and Total Endorsement" against Kemp, whom he said betrayed Georgia.

The former president has expressed his anger with Kemp before for how he handled 2020 election, which ended with Biden being certified the winner in Georgia by less than 12,000 votes.

Trump accused Kemp of repeatedly surrendering to Democrats.

"Kemp allowed himself to be bullied into a disastrous consent decree that effectively abolished signature verification and allowed massive voter fraud to occur throughout the state of Georgia," Trump said.

The state has since passed an election integrity act that has been criticized by Democrats.

"True the Vote released bombshell evidence revealing a gigantic illegal ballot harvesting scheme—involving more than 2,000 ballot traffickers—that took place on Kemp’s watch, and he does not even care," Trump accused.

He also said that under Kemp, Georgia officials have taken $45 million from Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg for election activities. Kemp also allowed a left-wing group to mail out absentee ballot applications and put drop boxes around the state, Trump said.

"A vote for RINO Brian Kemp in this primary is a vote for Governor Stacey Abrams," Trump asserted. "A vote for David Perdue is a vote to save Georgia from the Radical Left!"
