Former firefighter identified as victim killed by Trump's would-be assassin
The victim served as a fire chief in Buffalo Township and died protecting his daughter from the sniper fire.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro identified the victim of Donald Trump's would-be assassin as former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore. Shapiro hailed Comperatore, who died on Saturday protecting his daughter, as a hero.
"Corey was the very best of us," Shapiro said at a press conference.
"The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most. He was a hero that shielded his daughters," wrote Comperatore's sister on Facebook, the New York Post reported.
A GoFundMe to support Comperatore's family "has already raised more than $27,000 as of noon Sunday."
