Former first son Hunter Biden claimed Monday that President Donald Trump is the "one existential threat" that the United States is currently facing and is not merely a symptom of a larger problem.

Biden claimed the president's relationships with wealthy tech leaders are to blame for the country’s current divide, stating that his relationships with Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg are helping to push and promote Trump's political agenda. 

"They build a tool, and they make more money by tearing people down," Biden told former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. "They make more money by dividing people. They make more money, and so, they just let the algorithm roll, and it’s tearing us apart.

"The one existential threat that I think that we face, as a country, is Donald Trump," he continued. "I am not this believer that Trump is merely the symptom of a disease. I believe that Trump is central to why this disease has gone from a local epidemic to a pandemic in the United States of America."

Biden applauded former Trump allies Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie for having "woken up" to the president's agenda. Carlson is also a former ally of the president but has strongly criticized his handling of the Iran war. 

The former first son also commented on his father's health in the wide-ranging two-hour interview, stating his father's cancer has spread. 

He additionally said former President Joe Biden's decision to pardon the three felony charges Hunter Biden was convicted of was "not good" for his father's legacy. 

The Monday interview was just the latest in a string of media appearances the younger Biden has done recently as the country gears up for the 2026 midterms. He also appeared on the BBC last week.
