Republicans post in support of Trump after his arrest
"I will never stop supporting President Trump and I will vote for him from jail if I have to!" Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote.
Republican elected officials and notable figures posted their support of former President Donald Trump Thursday after he surrendered on 13 felony charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in the state.
"Tonight, I joined hundreds of Patriots at the Fulton County Jail to support President Trump during his persecution by Communist Atlanta DA Fani Willis," Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "I will never stop supporting President Trump and I will vote for him from jail if I have to!"
Arizona Rep. Eli Crane also took to X to show his support.
"We the People stand with @realDonaldTrump," he wrote.
The former president is facing charges under the state's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, as well as charges of conspiracy, making false statements and soliciting a public official to violate their oath.
Trump is the frontrunner in the majority of political polls for the 2024 GOP presidential nominee, all while facing four indictments – two of which are federal. He referred to what was taking place as "election interference."
"What they're doing is election interference and trying to interfere with an election," Trump told the press Thursday. "There's never been anything like it in our country before. This is their way of campaigning."
Former GOP Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake commented on the former president's mugshot that was made public.
"It's not a mugshot. It's a rallying cry," Lake wrote.
New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik also joined in.
"STAND WITH THE REPUBLIC. STAND WITH TRUMP!" Stefanik stated.
