Rudy Giuliani's former lawyers demand nearly $1.4 million in unpaid legal fees

Lawyers sued former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani for $1.36 million in unpaid legal fees related to both the federal and the Georgia state 2020 election cases.

The law firm Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP and firm partner Robert Costello, who has been friends with Giuliani since the 1970s when they were both New York federal prosecutors, filed the lawsuit Monday in Manhattan.

Costello represented Giuliani from November 2019 until this summer, raking up a bill of more than $1.57 million. Giuliani has paid $214,000 so far, with the latest payment of $10,000 being sent last week.

"I can't express how personally hurt I am by what Bob Costello has done," Giuliani told "Insider."

"It's a real shame when lawyers do things like this, and all I will say is that their bill is way in excess to anything approaching legitimate fees," he also said.

Giuliani told a court last month that he does not have any cash due to his mounting legal problems after working for former President Donald Trump. He is attempting to sell his 3-bedroom Manhattan apartment for $6.5 million.

Giuliani's legal woes are far from over, as he pleaded not guilty to charges related to the 2020 election in Georgia, and he is reportedly the "Co-conspirator 1" in the four-count federal indictment of Trump over the election, although he has not been indicted in that probe.

The former New York City mayor was also ordered to pay nearly $90,000 in attorneys fees over a defamation case that he lost. His company is being charged $20,000 a month to store his electronic records and $15,000 or more to search aforementioned records, and the business was ordered to pay $57,000 in phone bills. Additionally, Giuliani's law license is suspended and he is facing proceedings and D.C.
