SWAT personnel arrived at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago on Wednesday morning after a rifle-toting woman reportedly entered the building, law enforcement has said.

Authorities believe the incident was domestic and unrelated to former President Donald Trump or his recent indictment, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

The woman reportedly entered the complex openly displaying the firearm at around 11:25 a.m. The Daily Mail cited reports that the woman in question was "tired of being abused by her husband," though that remains unconfirmed as of press time.

The building was placed on lockdown and occupants have not been permitted to return as of yet. The Trump Hotel and Tower includes both hotel rooms and condominiums.

The incident immediately follows Trump's arraignment in New York City on Tuesday during which he pleaded not guilty to 34 counts related to a 2016 payment his then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, made to Stormy Daniels.

It also follows Tuesday night's Chicago mayoral election in which Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson defeated Paul Vallas, who had campaigned extensively on combatting the city's criminal element.

The Trump hotel incident, however, appears isolated and unrelated to either political development.
