Trump announces five new ambassador nominees, including Japan and Dominican Republic
Trump nominated former investment bank president George Glass for ambassador to Japan, former CIA case officer Leah Francis Campos for ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Arthur Graham Fisher for ambassador to Austria, Stacy Feinberg for ambassador to Luxembourg, and Lou Rinaldi for ambassador to Uruguay.
President-elect Donald Trump on Monday night announced a new slew of ambassadorship nominees, including individuals he wanted to represent the United States in Japan and the Dominican Republic.
Trump has spent the past six weeks since he was elected back to the White House by filling out his Cabinet and other key roles in his administration. Other recent ambassador picks include Kimberly Guilfoyle for ambassador to Greece, and former ambassador to El Salvador Ronald Johnson for ambassador to Mexico.
The incoming president nominated former investment bank president George Glass for ambassador to Japan, replacing Rahm Emanuel. Glass served as ambassador to Portugal in Trump's first administration, per Politico.
“As a former President of an Investment Bank, George will bring his business acumen to the Ambassador’s position,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Monday. "George graduated from the University of Oregon, served as Alumni President, and on its Board of Trustees. He will always PUT AMERICA FIRST. Congratulations George!"
Trump also nominated former CIA case officer Leah Francis Campos for ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Arthur Graham Fisher for ambassador to Austria, Stacy Feinberg for ambassador to Luxembourg, and Lou Rinaldi for ambassador to Uruguay.
The former president highlighted Francis-Campos' family connections in his post, praising Fox News' weekend anchor Rachel Campos-Duffy's and Rachel's husband Sean Duffy for their patriotism. Sean Duffy has been nominated for Transportation secretary.
"I am pleased to announce that I will nominate Leah Francis Campos as United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic," Trump said in a Truth social post. "Leah will take her love of Country, and commitment to our National Security and Prosperity, to her post as U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic."
