Trump attorney Boris Epshteyn to be interviewed by federal prosecutors: reports
Epshteyn is the fifth Trump attorney to testify in the Trump document probe.
Boris Epshteyn, an attorney and adviser to former President Donald Trump, is reportedly going to be interviewed Thursday by federal prosecutors working under special counsel Jack Smith, who is investigating Trump's role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and his handling of government documents.
Epshteyn's interview, which was reported by multiple media outlets citing people familiar with the matter, is the latest example of the Justice Department focusing on Trump's inner circle.
It is unclear what prosecutors plan on discussing with Epshteyn, who has remained close to Trump after working for him at the White House and during the 2020 campaign.
This is not the first time one of Trump's lawyers has testified in cases involving the former president.
Most recently, a federal judge ordered Trump attorney Evan Corcoran to testify last month before a grand jury about the former president's handling of classified documents.
Three other Trump attorneys have also testified in the federal document probe, including Tim Parlatore, Alina Habba and Christina Bobb.
Epshteyn has testified in other investigations involving Trump as well. Last year, he spoke before a Fulton County, Georgia, special grand jury probe about alleged efforts to alter the state's 2020 election results.
