Trump praises former Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo: 'a true warrior'
Trump said that fans of Fox News' longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo, who left the network on Thursday, "will not be happy."
President Donald Trump on Thursday praised former Fox Business Network’s global markets editor Maria Bartiromo, saying he can't believe the network won't offer her shows anymore.
"Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Fox News Media, the parent of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, announced on Thursday that the longtime anchor was leaving the network.
Bartiromo had been Fox Business Network’s global markets editor since 2014, after leaving CNBC. She hosted “Mornings with Maria” and “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on Fox Business. She also anchored "Sunday Morning Futures."
According to Fox's spokesperson, Bartiromo's departure was effective immediately and offered no further details on the reasons for her departure. Bartiromo was seen as a trailblazer for women in financial media, and Fox regularly touted her shows as ratings winners.
