Trump says Biden has more classified documents and China has likely seen them all
Trump weighs in on Biden's classified document discovery and doubles down on Chinese bribery claims.
President Donald Trump went after President Joe Biden Tuesday, suggesting that lavish Chinese government financial donations to the University of Pennsylvania effectively bought the communist regime access to classified U.S. documents discovered in the former vice president's private office at the Penn-Biden Center, the Penn-affiliated think tank in Washington, D.C. that served as Biden's base of operations following his tenure in the Obama administration.
"The fact is," Trump said in an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, "that China was paying, through Penn — which, you know, I went to school at Penn, I went to the Wharton School of Finance, I love Penn — but they were paying all of this money to Joe Biden," Trump said. "And they have the Biden Center there. And I would imagine — they're paying all this money — I would imagine they had absolute entree into those documents. And they saw those documents."
The University of Pennsylvania, under which the center operates, collected $54.6 million in donations from China from 2014 to 2019, including $23.1 million in anonymous gifts starting in 2016, according to public records cited by the New York Post.
"And I guess out of that, they paid a million dollars a year to Biden," said Trump, citing the reported $54 million Biden's center received from Chinese donors. "I mean, isn't that an incredible situation?"
The 2024 presidential candidate suspects the classified material discovered in Biden's D.C. office is only the tip of the iceberg.
"Now, that's only what's come out so far," Trump said. "But I'd be willing to bet he has many more documents than that. And then if you look at these other places that he's storing documents, I mean, I would think he'd have a treasure trove of documents."
Trump also commented on the story earlier in the day, with a post to his TruthSocial platform claiming, "The Biden Think Tank is funded by CHINA!!!"
Trump, who is facing a federal investigation into whether he took classified White House materials with him to his home in Florida following his presidency, also asked on social media: "Why didn't the 'Justice' Department announce the highly classified documents found in the office before the election."
Biden's lawyers disclosed to government attorneys on Nov. 2, 2022 — six days before the November midterms — that they'd found sensitive government documents with classified markings inside his office at the Penn-Biden Center.
