Trump considers Las Vegas for 2026 GOP midterm convention: report
If the convention is held in Las Vegas, then it would be the first time the city has hosted a national political party convention
President Trump is considering Las Vegas as the city to hold the 2026 GOP midterm convention, according to a news report.
National political parties typically hold conventions in presidential election years to announce their nominees. However, Trump has told aides that this convention will highlight Republican candidates and incumbents in congressional races, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
If the convention is held in Las Vegas, then it would be the first time the city has hosted a national political party convention.
In August, Trump posted on Truth Social that because of the Republican Party's success and it being "poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS," he was "thinking of recommending a National Convention to the Republican Party, just prior to the Midterms. It has never been done before. STAY TUNED!!!"
Last year, Trump won Nevada by 50.6%, which was the first time a GOP presidential candidate won the state since 2004.
