Trump 'could not be more thrilled' with Harris running mate Walz
After the initial announcement, Trump responded with only a short "thank you" online, seemingly indicating he believed the pick to be a boon to his own candidacy.
Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday indicated he was happy with Vice President Kamala Harris's selection of Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., as her running mate.
Walz had emerged as a favorite of the Democratic Party's progressive wing as Harris searched for a running mate. She officially tapped him for the post on Tuesday.
"He’s a very liberal man, and he’s a shocking pick... I could not be more thrilled," Trump said during an appearance on "Fox and Friends." He further likened Walz to Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the Senate's most well-known progressive.
After the initial announcement, Trump responded with only a short "thank you" online, seemingly indicating he believed the pick to be a boon to his own candidacy. His campaign, moreover, pointed to his record as governor.
"It’s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State," Trump National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at the time.
