Former President Donald Trump demanded Saturday that Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey provide "large-scale security" to auditors hired by the state Legislature to review election ballots in Maricopa County.

Trump's warning came after a judge ordered a temporary halt to the forensic review Friday to see if Democrats would be willing to post a $1 million bail to back an appeal. The Democrats did not, and the audit then continued. But local news coverage raised concerns about security at the building where the counting and review was being conducted.

"The Republican Party is demanding that Governor Ducey of Arizona immediately provide large-scale security for the brave American Patriots doing the Forensic Audit of the 2020 Presidential Election," Trump said in a statement released by his political action committee.

"Governor Ducey will be held fully responsible for the safety of those involved. State police or National Guard must be immediately sent out for protection. The Democrats do not want to have this information revealed, and they will do anything to stop it. Governor Ducey must finally act!"
