President-elect Donald Trump on Friday said that if a government shutdown is going to occur, it should be under the Biden administration.

"If there is going to be a shutdown of government, let it begin now, under the Biden Administration, not after January 20th, under 'TRUMP,'" Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told reporters Friday that the goal is to avoid a government shutdown and the House will be voting on legislation.

He said there was a plan, but didn't go into detail.

The House's spending bill, the American Relief Act 2025, failed on Thursday to get a two-thirds majority vote.

A government shutdown will occur tonight if a continuing resolution isn't passed.

"This is a Biden problem to solve, but if Republicans can help solve it, they will!" Trump's post concluded.
