Trump: 'Every time more Biden corruption is exposed his henchmen indict me'
Trump also said he is being targeted because he is standing up for the rights of average Americans, who far-left officials are actually after.
Former President Donald Trump says that every time more corruption is exposed in the Biden family recently, he has been indicted as part of an effort to distract from the negative publicity, but he considers it an honor to be targeted because he is standing up for the rights of average American citizens.
"Now, every time more Biden corruption is exposed, his henchmen indict me because they want to knock out the bad publicity," Trump said Saturday at the South Carolina Republican Party's 56th Annual Silver Elephant Dinner in Columbia. "Whenever they have something big happening they put out another indictment or a special indictment. It's called a cover-up and what they do is illegal and horrible."
Major developments related to Trump's legal troubles have closely coincided with revelations about the Biden family's alleged corruption.
For example, Trump's latest federal indictment on four charges related to the 2020 presidential election and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot came one day after Hunter Biden's former business partner and longtime friend Devon Archer testified to the House Oversight Committee about how the first son leveraged a "very powerful name" to secure millions of dollars in business deals.
On July 27, additional charges were added to special counsel Jack Smith's case against Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents. On July 26, Hunter Biden's plea deal with the Justice Department fell apart after the federal judge expressed concerns about whether a pre-trial diversion agreement was even constitutional.
Trump was initially indicted in early June on 37 charges related to the alleged mishandling of classified materials. Less than two weeks later, court records were released showing that Hunter Biden had reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors to avoid prison time.
Trump also said Saturday that he is being targeted because he is standing up for the rights of average Americans, who far-left officials are actually after.
"Every time the radical left Democrats, Marxists, communists and fascists indict me, I consider it a truly great badge of honor because I'm being indicted for you," he said, echoing previous comments portraying himself as a sacrificial lamb.
"They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom. It's very simple. They want to silence me because I will never let them silence you. In the end, they're not after me, they're after you and I just happen to be standing in their way," Trump also said.
"I will never let them do that. I promise you this if you put me back in the White House, their reign will be over and America will be a free nation once again," he said to applause.
