NYPD Community Affairs officers pulled anti-Trump demonstrators from the area reserved for supporters of the former president as officials tried to keep the two sides separate.
Photos from the scene show that in one incident, a Trump supporter grabbed a massive banner that stated "TRUMP LIES ALL THE TIME." She laid on the flag as she was confronted by opponents.
The protest comes in response to Trump's arraignment on charges related to hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.
The former president, who has maintained his innocence, arrived at the courthouse after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
