Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday pushed Vice President Kamala Harris to declare whether she viewed President Joe Biden as fit to serve the remainder of his term in office.

Biden announced on Sunday that he would not seek reelection and endorsed Harris to succeed him on the Democratic ticket. The decision followed weeks of public pressure on Biden after his disastrous debate performance renewed concerns over his mental acuity and fitness for office.

"Does Lyin’ Kamala Harris think Joe Biden is fit to run the U.S.A. for the next six months? She must answer the question," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Now it appears Joe is delegating his Presidential Authority to unelected Washington Bureaucrats! He doesn’t even trust his Vice President. WHO IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY?"

Biden is set to address the nation on Wednesday evening to discuss his decision. He initially made the announcement in an X post that featured a screenshot of a signed letter.

Some Republican lawmakers have urged the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from office.

"If President Biden is willing to admit he is unable to continue to stand as the Democratic Party nominee for President after the primary process due to his health, he is unable to continue to serve as President until January 20, 2025," Missouri GOP Sen. Eric Schmitt wrote this week. "It is with a sober awareness of the gravity of my request that I ask that you, as a principal officer of the executive department, to discharge your constitutional duty under the 25th Amendment."
