Trump says the Biden family is being protected by a dual system of government
Trump said that Hunter Biden's laptop "even affected the impeachment hoax number one."
Former President Donald Trump says President Joe Biden and his family are being protected by an unfair justice system in the United States.
Trump made the comment Thursday night during a Fox News Channel town hall-style event in which he zeroed in on the content of the hard drive of a laptop owned by Biden's son, Hunter Biden.
"When you look at all of this criminality, like the laptop has so much stuff on it," Trump told host Sean Hannity. "It’s so bad. It's so evil. And yet, they don’t want to do anything."
The first son's laptop was abandoned and recovered in a Delaware repair shop and contains information about his questionable overseas business dealings, in part when his father was vice president.
"They’re being protected, and it’s a one-sided system. It is a very unfair system, but they’re being protected," Trump said.
News reports about the discovery of the laptop were published three weeks before the 2020 presidential election that Biden won.
Trump then proceeded to discuss the Justice Department's investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and his 2016 presidential campaign.
"From the day I got in, I was under siege by people that had been in Washington for many years, put in there by different presidents," he said. "In most cases, people that were against me. ... They spied on my campaign, they did all sorts of things. I was under investigation and under siege and so were my people."
