President Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that the American tech CEOs that accompanied him on his trip to China will be bringing back American jobs after China agreed to invest "hundreds of billions" of dollars into the companies.

Trump brought dozens of major technology executives with him to his two-day summit in Beijing, including Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, where the leaders met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“Those business people are here to make deals and to bring back jobs,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “China’s going to invest hundreds of billions of dollars with those people that were in that room today. That’s why they came.”

Trump confirmed that the meeting between China and the tech executives and entrepreneurs, which also included Apple's Tim Cook, was not scheduled in advance, which threw China off.

"They were surprised, because it wasn’t, you know, it wasn’t scheduled," Trump said, adding the meeting was successful and the executives did well. “Xi actually said that was very good. That was a good idea, but it was very different from what the schedule had.”

The president also said the pair emphasized the need for the two countries to maintain a working relationship and that they have even found common ground with Iran, where China committed to not providing Iran with weapons and to help keep Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
