Trump says he did nothing wrong following bond in civil fraud case being reduced
A judge on Monday ruled that Trump's bond be reduced to $175 million in his civil fraud trial.
Former President Donald Trump responded Monday to the bond in his his civil fraud case being reduced from $464 million to $175 million by criticizing the judge presiding over the case who also set the original, higher amount.
Trump said the initial amount set by Judge Arthur Engoron being reduced "shows how ridiculous and outrageous Engoron’s original decision was at $450 million."
Trump, now the 2024 GOP presumptive presidential nominee, also wrote on TRUTH Social: "I DID NOTHING WRONG, AND NEW YORK SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A POSITION LIKE THIS AGAIN. BUSINESSES ARE FLEEING, VIOLENT CRIME IS FLOURISHING, AND IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS BE RESOLVED IN ITS TOTALITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!"
The court had previously set the bond for $464 million, but a New York appeals court ruled Monday to reduce the amount and give the former president 10 more days to pay the funds.
He criticized Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying her credibility has been "shattered."
James' office is attempting to seize Trump's assets, after she alleged that Trump manipulated the value of his assets to secure favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums.
