Former President Donald Trump on Monday said he expects to face another federal indictment "any day now" as part of special counsel Jack Smith's probe of efforts to challenge the 2020 election and the subsequent Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

"I assume that an Indictment from Deranged Jack Smith and his highly partisan gang of Thugs, pertaining to my “PEACEFULLY & PATRIOTICALLY Speech, will be coming out any day now, as yet another attempt to cover up all of the bad news about bribes, payoffs, and extortion, coming from the Biden 'camp,'" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump was referring to his speech during the "Stop the Steal" rally on Jan. 6, 2021, in which he said: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

His post comes as first son Hunter Biden's former business associate Devon Archer is testifying behind closed doors Monday on Capitol Hill. He is expected to speak about President Joe Biden's involvement in his son's business deals.

Trump also said the timing of the potential indictment constitutes election interference and is the result of prosecutorial misconduct.

Trump said earlier this month that he was a target in the Justice Department's Jan. 6 probe. Last week, however, he said that members of Jack Smith's team did not give any indication that the former president would receive a notice of indictment.

Trump has also been charged in Smith's probe of his handling of classified documents. Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 of those federal charges.
