Trump says Democrats investigating him only to interfere with his 2024 election bid
Trump is the subject of two Justice Department investigations.
Former President Donald Trump said Monday that he is being targeted in criminal investigations only because Democrats want to interfere with his chances in the 2024 election.
"THE ONLY REASON I HAVE THESE ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST ME , HEADED UP BY RACISTS, LUNATICS, AND RADICAL LEFT MANIACS, IS FOR PURPOSES OF ELECTION INTERFERENCE," he wrote in all capital letters on Truth Social.
Trump also said it would be more difficult for "DEMOCRATS TO CHEAT LIKE THEY DID IN 2020 SO THEY ARE GOING RIGHT TO THE OLD SOVIET UNION PLAYBOOK AND USING THE DOJ, FBI & OTHERS IN 'JUSTICE' TO INTERFERE IN OUR ONCE SACRED ELECTIONS."
Trump, the front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, was indicted earlier this month in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's probe of the former president's hush money payments leading up to the 2016 election.
Late last year, the Trump Organization was found guilty in connection to a tax fraud scheme.
At the same time, in Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating whether Trump and his allies attempted to interfere in the state's 2020 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Justice Department is also probing whether Trump and his associates were involved in attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Additionally, the Justice Department is investigating Trump's handling of documents marked as classified that the FBI found on his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, estate.
