Former President Donald Trump on Thursday sued CBS News for $10 billion, over its alleged doctoring of an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on "60 Minutes."

The network was embroiled in controversy over the editing of the vice president's answer to one of the questions. The answer shown in a clip promoting the interview differed from the answer in the full interview that aired, prompting accusations of deception.

Republicans have claimed the interview was manipulated to make Harris appear better.

The former president's legal team said the network practiced "deceptive broadcasting conduct" in order to interfere with the upcoming presidential election, according to Fox News.

"President Trump brings this action to redress the immense harm caused to him, to his campaign, and to tens of millions of citizens in Texas and across America by CBS’s deceptive broadcasting conduct," the lawsuit states. "CBS’s partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion, [were] calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public."

"To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news," it added.

Trump has also requested a jury trial, and previously implored the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to pull the network's license.
