Trump targets Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney in statements, calls Romney 'a stone cold loser'

Former President Trump issued statements on Monday targeting House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney and Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney, whom Trump derided as "a stone cold loser."

Trump indicated that he was pleased that people booed Romney during a state GOP convention.

"So nice to see RINO Mitt Romney booed off the stage at the Utah Republican State Convention," the former president said in a statement. "They are among the earliest to have figured this guy out, a stone cold loser!"

Romney voted to convict Trump earlier this year after the House voted to impeach in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. While the House vote occurred shortly before Trump's departure from the presidency, the Senate vote took place after Trump was already out of office.

After the House voted to impeach Trump the first time in 2019, Romney in 2020 voted to convict on one of the two articles of impeachment.

"The Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020 will be, from this day forth, known as THE BIG LIE!" Trump said in a statement on Monday.

Rep. Cheney, who voted to impeach Trump earlier this year, pushed back against the former president, tweeting: "The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system." 

Trump in a Monday statement said: "Heartwarming to read new polls on big-shot warmonger Liz Cheney of the great State of Wyoming. She is so low that her only chance would be if vast numbers of people run against her which, hopefully, won't happen. They never liked her much, but I say she'll never run in a Wyoming election again!"
