President Donald Trump threatened Saturday to unleash U.S. military force in Nigeria and withhold foreign aid in a bid to stop the mass slaughter of Christians in that African country.

"If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, 'guns-a-blazing,' to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities," Trump warned in a post on his Truth Social platform.

"I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action" he added. "If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!"

On Friday, Trump threatened possible sanctions against the African nation, declaring it a "country of particular concern”

In that post, he decried the deadly onslaught by Islamists, warning "Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter."

Nigeria’s 220 million residents are largely divided between Christians and Muslims, with terror groups like Boko Haram carrying out systemic executions of Christians in that country in a bid to impose Islamic law.
