Trump trashes Democratic Party platform for referencing a second Biden term instead of Harris
Trump accused the party of "not caring" about its platform because it allowed the mistakes to remain in the final version, even though Biden dropped his bid for reelection and endorsed Harris last month.
Former President Donald Trump tore into the Democratic Party's official platform on Monday, after it made multiple references to a second presidential term for Joe Biden instead of referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
The party released its platform on Sunday, which made at least 19 references to a second Biden term, according to Fox News. The errors included promises that Biden will continue picking Democratic judges, and that he will continue to support access to abortion pills.
Trump accused the party of "not caring" about its platform because it allowed the mistakes to remain in the final version, even though Biden dropped his bid for reelection and endorsed Harris last month.
"In the JUST RELEASED Democrat Platform, they mention Crooked Joe Biden’s 'second Term' over 20 times," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. "It shows that the Platform is not that important to them when they won’t even make the change."
Trump's presidential campaign also slammed the errors in a post to X on Monday, claiming it proved that a Harris presidency would be the equivalent of a second Biden term.
"It’s hilarious incompetence but it’s also the truth. Kamala’s presidency would be a Biden second term," the campaign said. "A continuation of his broken economy, broken border, and broken world.”
The Democratic Party claimed the 92-page agenda was approved by the Platform Committee before Biden withdrew from the race, according to the Daily Wire.
The platform comes as Harris faces heavy backlash for her silence on key political issues and for not clearly stating her own policy focuses on her campaign website. She has also been accused of dodging the press ever since emerging as the Democratic presidential frontrunner.
Harris has made public appearances on the campaign trail, including when announcing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate earlier this month.
