Veterans diss Trump as 'draft dodger' in new pro-Biden D-Day ad

"Donald Trump, he is not fit to be commander in chief, he is not fit to lead a squad, and he's definitely not fit to be the president of the United States," McCabe said. "He is a draft dodger, as simple as that."

A group of three veterans slammed former President Donald Trump as a "draft dodger" in a new ad Thursday, which was released on the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

The ad was dropped while President Joe Biden visits Normandy, France, for the anniversary. Neither Trump nor Biden are veterans, but Trump has faced heavy backlash over allegedly calling veterans that were buried in France "losers" and "suckers." Trump has denied making the statement, according to The Hill.

Trump has also faced scrutiny after he claimed he received a high draft number during the Vietnam War, but he was exempted for attending college and for medical reasons, according to Business Insider, after being diagnosed with bone spurs in 1968.

The video featured testimony from Marine Corps veteran Curtis Register, Army veteran Ed McCabe, and retired Navy pilot Matthew McLaughlin, who lashed out at Trump but praised President Joe Biden.

“A good commander in chief is somebody who gives a s‑‑‑,” Register said in the video, which was posted to the Biden-Harris YouTube page. "I think this election is about authoritarianism and democracy, and I came to see a president that cares about maintaining democracy."

McCabe claimed Trump was a "draft dodger" who liked to criticize veterans despite never being one himself.

"Donald Trump, he is not fit to be commander in chief, he is not fit to lead a squad, and he's definitely not fit to be the president of the United States," McCabe said. "He is a draft dodger, as simple as that."

McLaughlin called Trump out over a lack of accountability and responsibility, and claimed Trump was just in the election for himself, instead of for the country.

"I see a man in Joe Biden, who accepts accountability and responsibility," McLaughlin said. "When I see his predecessor, Donald Trump, I see a man who is only in this for himself ... Donald Trump has zero accountability in his life."
