Another poll shows Walker ahead in Georgia, though runoff looms
In Georgia, a candidate must clear 50.0% of the vote to win the seat outright, regardless of position.
Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker holds a lead over his Democratic rival, Sen. Raphael Warnock, in another survey, with less than two weeks to go before the midterm elections.
In the latest, Fox 5/InsiderAdvantage poll, Walker led Warnock with 48% support among likely voters to 45%. That figure remains within the survey's +/- 4.2% margin of error, meaning the race remains a statistical tie.
The survey follows other polls from Rassmussen and Trafalgar that showed Walker ahead by 5% and 2%, respectively. The RealClearPolitics polling average gives Walker a 1.6% overall lead and forecasts the Republican to win, though it also predicts a runoff election.
In Georgia, a candidate must clear 50.0% of the vote to win the seat outright, regardless of position. On election night in 2020, then-Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue outperformed Warnock, though he ultimately lost to the Democrat in a later runoff election.
Libertarian Chase Oliver, though he did not appear in the debate and has garnered little media attention, could potentially earn enough votes to deny either candidate an outright win on Nov. 8.
