Authorities identify, charge Philadelphia shooting suspect
Carriker will remain behind bars pending trial.
Philadelphia authorities on Wednesday identified and charge a suspect in connection with the Monday mass shooting in the city's Kingsessing area.
Police arrested Kimbrady Carriker, 40, shortly after the violent exchange, but did not formally identify the suspect until Wednesday. In the interim, multiple news outlets confirmed Carriker's identity, with some highlighting photos on what appeared to be his Facebook account in which he is wearing women's clothing.
Authorities announced that Carriker will face murder charges in connection with the incident. Carriker is male, but officials used they/them pronouns when referencing the suspect, according to the Epoch Times.
Five people died in the incident while two more sustained injuries, one of whom was a 2-year-old kid.
Carriker will remain behind bars pending trial.
Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Homicide Chief Joanne Pescatore told reporters Monday that Carriker had been exhibiting increasingly abnormal behavior in the leadup to the shooting, but that those living with him had not alerted the authorities.
