President Joe Biden will spend the second anniversary of the chaotic incident at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, at the White House and will award the Presidential Citizens Medal to 12 election and law enforcement officials.

Of particular note, is Republican Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, who declined to aid former President Donald Trump in his efforts to challenge the election results in his state, according to The Hill.

The Biden administration and Trump's detractors have long portrayed the Jan. 6 incident as a violent insurrection hell-bent on overthrowing democracy and derailing the U.S.'s constitutional processes.

The highly partisan House select committee investigating Jan. 6 released its final report in late December and largely pinned the blame on Trump for the episode.
