President Joe Biden and the White House have drawn criticism for the prominent display of a pride flag flanked by two American flags and its possible violation of the U.S. flag code.

The three flags appeared draped over a White House balcony as part of an LGBTQ celebration at the presidential residence over the weekend.

Such an arrangement, however, may violate the U.S. Flag Code which explicitly states that "[t]he flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs."

The display drew criticism from conservative figures and lawmakers alike.

Actor James Woods suggested that the display was not an accident, but a statement about the administration's position on the paramount status of the LGBTQ movement in the country.

"There has been consternation that the American flag is neither center nor above this other flag. That is a violation of the flag code," he tweeted. "This is not a mistake. This is an expression of the current resident’s priorities. And of his inability to comprehend who’s House this is."

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton echoed Woods' sentiment, suggesting that "[t]o advance revolutionary transgender agenda targeting children, Biden violates basic tenet of US Flag Code and disrespects every American service member buried under its colors."

Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall fumed over the display, calling it a "disgrace."

"Not only is it in breach of US Flag Code, but it’s a glaring example of this White Houses’ incompetence and insistence on putting their social agenda ahead of patriotism," he added.

Others, however, suggested that the display may not have been a violation of the Flag Code, noting that the White House still flew the U.S. flag at the roof of the building, technically meaning that it remained above the others. Some further noted that the three flags were not "displayed from staffs" as the code references.
