Pfizer expected to seek approval for booster shots for all US adults
If approved, eligibility for booster shots would expand beyond current limitations.
Pfizer is expected to submit its vaccine booster for approval for all adults ages 18 and above. If approved this would widely expand booster shots for the COVID-19 vaccine that are currently limited to elderly people and those with underlying health conditions.
According to the Washington Post, Pfizer could submit a request to the Food and Drug Administration as early as the end of this week.
This report comes as cases continue to plummet across the United States. The U.S. reportedly is experiencing about 70,000 Covid cases a day, with a daily total of 1,000 deaths.
The Post notes that pharmacies are currently using an “honor system” for administering booster shots, with varying rates of compliance.
“There are people who will stick by the rules and others who have been saying for months, ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme,” said Dr. John P. Moore of Weill Cornell Medicine.
