New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Annie Kuster on Wednesday confirmed that she would not seek reelection in 2024, marking the latest in a string of retirement announcements as frustrated members of both parties flee the lower chamber.

"I spent a lot of time with my family this winter, and we did a lot of skiing and traveling, and I've realized I have a life, and my husband Brad has been very patient," she told WMUR. "I want to spend time with my sons as they're heading into their married lives – and hopefully grandchildren on the way one day. And I really want to lean in on helping my colleagues and these fantastic candidates that we've recruited."

Kuster was first elected to Congress in 2012 and is in her sixth term. The state's second congressional district includes much of the western half of the Granite State.

Dozens of lawmakers have announced their intentions to leave the lower chamber, though several in recent weeks have either left their term early or announced plans to do so.

Colorado GOP Rep. Ken Buck, earlier this month, left the lower chamber after previously declaring that he would not seek reelection. Wisconsin GOP Rep. Mike Gallagher, moreover, has confirmed he plans to leave on April 19.
