Catholic University in Washington, DC lifts shelter-in-place order
A message from the school's alert system said officers were searching for a threat after receiving calls.
The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C., on Thursday morning briefly issued a shelter-in-place order after an active threat was identified.
The order was issued at about 10:30 a.m. and lifted at 11:05 a.m.
According to a message from the school’s alert system, officers were searching for a threat after receiving calls. But as of noon ET it was still unclear about what exactly prompted and ended the orders.
The first message reads: "Catholic University SHELTER IN PLACE: At this time DPS and MPD are conducting a systematic search," the university wrote on Twitter.
The closing message reads: "Final Update: After a thorough campus search, there is NO threat to our community. [Police] are lifting the shelter in place. Thank you."
