The Job Creators Network slammed teachers union head Randi Weingarten for her remarks about school choice "undermining democracy."

“Randi Weingarten’s claim that school choice ‘undermines democracy’ is not just ridiculous but Orwellian," the conservative job network said. "Allowing families to escape failing government schools for better options is a democratic response to the ongoing education crisis caused by Weingarten’s union, which forced schools to remain closed for years between 2020 and 2022."

Weingarten is president of the American Federation of Teachers, and she made the remarks at the "Network for Public Education Action" national conference in October.

"They have not one thing that they offer as a solution other than privatizing or voucherizing schools which is about undermining democracy and undermining civil discourse and undermining pluralism because 90% of our kids go to public schools still," she said, referring to former White House Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and other school choice advocates.

"They just divide. Divide. Divide. Divide," she added.

The Job Creators Network also stated that Weingarten’s approach to education is undemocratic, because it traps kids in education systems based on their zip code.

"It’s producing a generation of children who can’t read and write, undermining American democracy in the process. I urge all parents, teachers, and community leaders of every race and economic status to stand up to this evil union boss who is harming our kids every day," the statement concluded.
