A New York City college professor has lost her position after she was caught on camera threatening a reporter by pressing a machete against his throat.

Shellyne Rodriguez was caught on camera pressing the blade against the neck of a New York Post reporter who had come to her apartment in connection with a separate viral video in which Rodriguez appeared.

A spokesman for Hunter College, the Manhattan-based public university where Rodriguez worked as a professor, confirmed her termination directly to the Post.

"Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action. Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach at the school," said spokesman Vince Dimiceli.

The reporter had sought to speak with Rodriguez over a video from Students for Life of America that appeared to show Rodriguez harassing pro-life students at the college who had set up a booth to canvas for their position.

In the video, she claims the students are "triggering" her own and excoriates them for setting up the booth, which she said amounted to violence. Rodriguez then appears to shove materials off of the table.
