Oklahoma state lawmakers aim to bar teaching of critical race theory in public schools, colleges

Oklahoma state senators have put forward legislation to prohibit certain concepts from being mandatory teaching and training topics in public schools and universities.

State Sen. Shane Jett informed the Daily Wire that the lawmakers did not explicitly state that they were barring "Critical Race Theory" because proponents of that idea would "just change the title and still try to teach those principles that are embedded in critical race theory."

"What we did instead is identify line by line the types of things being taught to our children in public schools and in the university and prohibited it expressly," he explained.

Some of the prohibited topics would include the ideas that "one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex" or "an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously."
