Teachers union ad attacks 'extremists' who oppose gender theory, CRT in schools

A New Jersey teachers union ad is labeling people who oppose Critical Race Theory and gender identity lessons as "extremists."

"We don't agree on everything in New Jersey but we all agree that our kids deserve a world-class education," reads the 15-second video ad from the New Jersey's National Education Association, the state chapter of the largest U.S. teachers union.

As the narrator says, "So when extremists start attacking our schools," photos of angry parents at school board meetings are shown in the ad along with titles of news articles from earlier this year including "Some NJ schools under siege" and " 'Don't say gay' bill introduced by NJ state senator."

"That's not who we are," the narrator states as children walk down a hallway. The video again shows a photo of an angry parent as the narrator concludes: "People who only want to fight to score political points should take that somewhere else."

The video omitted the full title of the one ad, in NJ.com and which in full read: "Some N.J. schools under siege from those trying to get books on race, LGBTQ+ pulled from shelves."

The article is about parents' efforts to challenge books on LGBT+ topics, Critical Race Theory and Black Lives Matter.

"New Jersey’s parents deserve better," Building Education for Students Together, a parental rights group, told The Daily Caller about the ad. "Standing up for your children is NOT a political point, it is a parent’s responsibility. The NJEA should be ashamed for pretending they care more about children than their parents."

The National Education Association was under scrutiny earlier this year for supporting education resolutions about "white fragility," reparations and Black Lives Matter.

The national union apologized last year for connecting parents at school board meetings to domestic terrorists.
