Arizona audit pauses to make way for high school graduations
Audit will resume next weekend.
The historic audit of the 2020 election results in Maricopa County, Arizona will pause for at least a week to allow for several high school graduations to take place in the facility in which the audit is occurring.
The audit is taking place in Phoenix’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The ballots and other election material have since been moved to a nearby warehouse to allow for around a dozen high school graduations to commence in the coliseum.
The ballots will be stored in “locked container with 24/7 armed guards, fencing and 24/7 livestreaming cameras,” state Senate liaison Ken Bennett told CNN.
The audit will reportedly restart on May 24 with the goal of concluding in roughly two weeks.
Auditors had originally hoped to finish the process by May 14, though reportedly only about a quarter of the ballots had been reviewed thus far.
