Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs says that the negative consequences of the response to COVID-19 by the federal government cannot simply be forgotten and forgiven by the people, and those responsible need to be held accountable.

The Atlantic published an article on Monday titled "Let's Declare a Pandemic Amnesty," calling on people to forgive each other and government and public health officials for things that happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"You just go through this thing (the article) which cites this whole litany of rights taken away from Americans," Rep. Biggs said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "And they say, 'Well, wait a second. Let's not get to the bottom of this. Let's not find out why this happened and who did it, and then hold people accountable.' I disagree with that fundamental premise."

Biggs stated the rights of the American people that were violated, including children being pulled out of schools and missing out on education, elderly people dying in nursing homes without being able to see their loved ones and elections being changed unlawfully as a result of COVID.

"I mean, we're all sinners and fall short of the glory of God there's no doubt about it," Biggs continued. "We all need to be forgiven. But here's something that needs to be known and understood: People who are responsible need to be held accountable, because we shouldn't ever have to acquiesce our rights again as American people."

On another topic, according to the Arizona congressman, GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has a real shot at winning the governorship of Arizona in the upcoming election.

"Kari Lake is actually having this massive separation starting to occur between her and her Democrat opponent, who is actually a worse candidate than Fetterman in Pennsylvania, if you can believe that," Biggs stated. "So this is great for Kari because as she continues to pick up steam, she carries the whole Republican ticket."
