Biden campaign to create Truth Social account
"There’s very little 'truth' happening on TruthSocial, but at least now it’ll be a little fun," one campaign official told the outlet.
President Joe Biden's campaign plans to soon launch a Truth Social account to directly reach former President Donald Trump's most fervent supporters.
Truth Social is Trump's own social media platform, which he created following his ban from most mainstream platforms in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Though his Facebook and Twitter bans have since been reversed, Trump largely remains active exclusively on his own platform. The Biden campaign, for its part, sees the platform as a venue to reach new voters.
Campaign officials told Fox News that Truth presents an opportunity for the Biden campaign to engage with voters "where they are" and that they plan on "injecting our message" into that section of the digital sphere.
"There’s very little 'truth' happening on TruthSocial, but at least now it’ll be a little fun," one told the outlet.
The Biden campaign is far from the first Democratic apparatus to join the platform, however. California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom made his own account in June of last year, earning an enthusiastic welcome from platform officials.
"Please welcome the Governor of California @realgovnewsom40 to Truth Social! Welcome to freedom Governor thank you for joining Truth Social!" posted Trump Media and Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes at the time.
