In first reelection campaign event, Biden returns to swing state Pennsylvania, union workers crowd

President Biden will on Saturday hold his first 2024 reelection campaign event – returning to the familiar ground of swing state Pennsylvania and a crowd of union workers.
The event will take place at the Philadelphia Convention Center, and Biden's campaign says the president will "lay out the core principles of his economic message," ABC6 reports.
Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and through his political career he has been a supporter of labor unions, which have in turn supported him.
Members of the powerful AFL-CIO, American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, are among those set to attend Saturday's rally.
“There’s absolutely no question that Joe Biden is the most pro-union president in our lifetimes,” said AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, according to CNN.
“From bringing manufacturing jobs home to America to protecting our pensions and making historic investments in infrastructure, clean energy and education, we’ve never seen a president work so tirelessly to rebuild our economy from the bottom up and middle out," she continued.
Biden has said previously that he is very proud to be backed by unions in the country.
“I make no apologies for being labeled the most pro-union president in American history,” he said to AFL-CIO.
