Ken Blackwell predicts GOP will take back House and Senate in midterms
Former Ohio Secretary of State, Cincinnati mayor participated in a news conference with the Job Creators Network.
Ken Blackwell, former Ohio Secretary of State and mayor of Cincinnati, predicted that the Republican Party will win back the majority in both the House and Senate in the midterm elections.
"We will see a sea change in the composition of the Congress, which means we will have a sizable majority in the House and we will have a squeaker of a majority in the Senate," Blackwell said in an interview after a news conference in Washington, D.C. with the Job Creators Network focused on their new "small business prosperity plan."
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich delivered live remarks virtually at the event and endorsed the prosperity plan.
Part of the plan includes making the Trump-era tax reform, the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, permanent.
President Biden and other Democrats have criticized the 2017 legislation for benefiting wealthy Americans. The tax reform package included across-the-board tax cuts. Biden has called for an increase to the 21% corporate tax rate in the legislation.
Blackwell was asked how the tax reform law could become permanent under a GOP majority in Congress with Biden in the White House.
"The Democrat administration, the Biden administration, will have a short shelf life if it doesn't get on board with things that would curve inflation downward and actually expand our economy and job creation," Blackwell said. "It's going to be his choice, but one of the things that we know is that we can stop the damage and we can put a tourniquet on the bleeding."
