Georgia GOP Gov. Kemp wins reelection, defeating Democrat Stacey Abrams in rematch

Kemp previously faced Abrams in 2018, narrowly winning the contest after a protracted ballot counting process.

Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday night won reelection over Democrat challenger Stacey Abrams.

NBC and CNN have called the race of Kemp, in a rematch of his 2018 race with Abrams. 

Kemp was the frontrunner for much of the race. He defeated Abrams four years ago, after a protracted ballot counting process.

Claims by Abrams and others about voter suppression failed to hold up in court
