GOP Congressman Burgess Owens endorses Trump for 2024 presidency

Utah Rep. Burgess Owens has endorsed fellow Republican and former President Donald Trump in his 2024 presidential bid and says President Biden has done "damage" to the country.
“Donald Trump delivered record-breaking growth to all communities," Owens, who was born in the segregated South, told the Daily Caller. "I witnessed Donald Trump help the black community more than any president in my lifetime. Record growth for black business owners, then to answer this, the Democrats nominated the last segregationist in American politics, Joe Biden."
Owens is a former football player who played 10 seasons in the NFL. He played for the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders.
“Biden declared to the world that if you don’t support him, ‘you ain’t black,’ well, once again, I don’t support him," he continued in the interview. "I’m proud to support Donald Trump in 2024, and I pray he gets the opportunity to finish the record growth he started. We need his boldness to reverse the damage Joe Biden has done before it’s too late.”
Owens represents Utah's fourth district and serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Riverton Utah Mayor Trent Staggs, who is running against Sen. Mitt Romney in the 2024 GOP Senate primary, also recently announced his endorsement of Trump earlier this month.
