In her closing argument speech on Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris repeated a debunked claim that former President Trump tried to cut Medicare and Social Security every year while he was president.

In September, Harris' running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., claimed that Trump proposed cutting Social Security and Medicare in each of his annual budgets as president, which the The Washington Post rated as false, giving the claim 3 pinocchios.

Despite this, Harris included it in her speech on Tuesday night.

"He tried to cut Medicare and Social Security every year he was president," Harris said in Washington, D.C.

In July, Politifact rated Harris' previous claim that Trump "intends to cut" Medicare as "mostly false."

Trump has said he wants to make sure Medicare and Social Security are saved for future generations.
