CNN commentator accuses network of letting Democrats take Trump's 'bloodbath' comment out of context
“It is said by every Democrat working for or around [Harris’] campaign every day on this network and every other one,” Jennings says
CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings is criticizing his network and others for allowing what he considers Democrats taking former President Trump's "bloodbath" comment out of context on-air.
“It is said by every Democrat working for or around [Harris’] campaign every day on this network and every other one,” Jennings said Monday, the day after the second assassination attempt on Trump, during a panel discussion hosted by CNN's Abby Phillip about the heated rhetoric surrounding the 2024 election.
Trump had predicted there would be an economic “bloodbath” in the automotive industry if President Biden won the election.
In the panel discussion, Phillips acknowledged Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris mischaracterized the comment in her Sept. 10 debate with Trump, now the GOP presidential nominee.
“Use of the word ‘bloodbath’ when he was talking about vehicle manufacturing jobs in the United States, Vice President Harris improperly and unfairly mischaracterized that as him saying there would be a bloodbath if he were elected,” Phillip said. “However, she did not say that if Trump were elected, there would be a bloodbath."
In the debate, Harris said: “Donald Trump, the candidate, has said, in this election, there will be a bloodbath if the outcome of this election is not to his liking.”
Jennings is a Republican and former Bush appointee who is a paid CNN contributor. He frequently argues the conservative viewpoint on the cable TV news network's on-air political segments.
