Democrat Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is projected to win reelection defeating GOP opponent Attorney General Daniel Cameron, The Associated Press reports.
He focused a lot of his campaign on abortion rights and led in multiple polls prior to the election.
Beshear said during his speech that his victory sent a "loud and clear message" that "anger politics" needs to end.
He also added that Kentucky voters picked “a choice not to move to the right or to the left but to move forward for every single family.”
He was the incumbent candidate and had flipped the governor's seat from red to blue in 2019 by a narrow margin.
Kentucky GOP incumbent candidate Michael Adams was projected to win Secretary of State and GOP candidate Russell Coleman was projected to win the Kentucky Attorney General race.
