Ohio Democrat Senate nominee Rep. Tim Ryan says he has been "very clear" that President Joe Biden should not run for reelection in 2024.

Ryan made the comment Monday night in a debate with GOP rival J.D. Vance.

"I’ve been very clear I’d like to see a generational change," he said, according to The Hill newspaper.

"We need a new generation of leadership," said Ryan, while also named Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and former President Donald Trump as politicians who should no longer be in office.

Ryan made similar comments last month when he suggested that Biden should not run again.

Ryan and Vance are scheduled for as second and final debate in the coming days, ahead of their Nov. 8 election day.

The Real Clear Politics polling average shows the race statistically tied.
